The MedLite Q-switched Nd:YAG lasers safely penetrate the skin and target each tattoo ink color with specific wavelengths, causing tattoos to progressively fade throughout a sequence of 5 to 15 treatment sessions. Unlike most lasers which have at least two wavelengths to target dark blue, black, and red inks, the MedLite with PhotoAcoustic Technology features four wavelengths to target a wide range of colors from blue, black, and red, to orange and purple and even difficult green and sky blue.
After the first treatment, you should expect the skin to experience temporary whitening, but over time the tattoo particles will diminish through the lymphatic system and the skin will regain its natural color.
Dark Blue, black, and red inks have the highest level of success, followed by orange and purple inks. Green and sky blue inks may require further treatments for satisfactory fading.
The light energy from the laser lightly pulses and destroys the tattoo ink into micro-particles that are then easily eliminated.
Typically 5 to 15 treatments are required. The amount of treatments required depends on the color and quality of the tattoo.
There should not be any sun exposure before or after treatment. Your laser practitioner will go over specifics at the time of your consultation.
Clients have reported the treatment feels like snaps of a rubber band and a warm sensation. Ice is applied before, during, and after treatment if needed. Numbing cream is also available.
The skin should only be irritated for a few hours to a few days after each treatment. Treatment may be repeated after six weeks.
